ABOUT ME

I served in the United States Army for six years, where I studied Arabic as a Human Intelligence Collector. Afterward, I decided to continue my education and earned my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Shaw University. I have a background in Python, HTML5, CSS, and Java programming due to my school and personal projects. Professionally, I have been growing my skills with Java programming adding in SQL and CI/CD Tools.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Cisco Systems
Full-Stack Software Developer

I am focused on app security and closing the existing vulnerabilities. I have helped to close approximately 200 vulnerabilities across 10 different applications for the learning services. I am also working to standardize the application portfolio for Cisco’s Talent and Learn team by enabling single sign-on and zero trust for in-house and third-party applications.

I work for the Hire to Retire group in the Cisco Digital Workforce department of Cisco Systems. I have worked on an application to help simplify and streamline the process of getting new employee information when corporate acquisitions occur. I created an application that utilized the Microsoft PowerApps and Flows platform, to standardize the process for our division to create job requests for the hiring process.

bioMérieux, Inc.
Information Systems Intern

I developed different SharePoint applications for the company’s information systems support pages, conducted audits for different Cisco Webex devices, and worked with ServiceNow to discern patterns for the helpdesk tickets. One of the apps I developed allows users to filter and search for the contact information in the international technical support table. I was able to learn and use Javascript and HTML to create the table and functionality.

North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation
Information Technology Intern

I assisted the development of in-house applications using VB.NET framework. I gained experience and exposure to Microsoft SQL Server, Stored Procedures, and large quantities of data. I was allowed to use and research third party software to complete development tasks. One of the applications opened emails from an AWS server that would allow the data transfer for smart thermostats from Ecobee and intelligent electric meters to better analyze electricity consumption and help with projecting necessary generation.

Bath & Body Works
Sales/Stock Associate

I was tasked with maintaining the organization and status of the merchandise in the store and locations outside of the store. I helped sort the merchandise from deliveries and take items designated locations. Daily, I would work to maintain professional displays, stocked shelves while being available to help customers and process purchases at the register. I would work to pair customers with preferred and new fragrance combinations according to their requests.

United States Army
Human Intelligence Collector

I trained in different methods of communicating with people from different backgrounds while collecting information. The collection process was used to help complete the requirements established by leadership in different echelons. I trained with English and ESL speakers to gather information from different individuals.

United States Army
Logistics Clerk

I arranged forms and paperwork to transfer equipment to and from the organization. I used computer systems to set up functions, enter data, and process information according to the military regulations. I worked with the Logistics Managers and Executive officers from the Company level up to Brigade level.

United States Army
Unit Armorer

I was responsible for maintaining approximately $800,000.00 in weapons and equipment for my company. I performed daily inventories as well as monthly Serial Number sensitive item inventories. I assisted in the lateral transfer and turn-in of roughly $1.5 million dollars of equipment.

United States Army
Communications Representative

I oversaw sustaining organizational communications equipment valuing around $2,500,000. I was responsible for training colleagues on radio equipment usage and identifying parts and components of the different systems. I conducted periodic equipment inspections and routine tests. I set up antennas and mobile communication units during military field exercises.

PORTFOLIO & PROJECTS

Introduction

Technology Used

In the summer of 2020, I worked for bioMerieux as the Information Systems Intern for their Global IS team. During this time of COVID-19 in the United States, I worked from home for the entire time. I worked with and interacted with people from all over the globe. I felt that the project managers that I worked for allowed me to work autonomously. There were different topics that I had to learn to succeed in this role. I worked with three distinct groups in the company's IS field. I worked on the company SharePoint site, the telecommunications group on different Cisco devices, and the Service Center observing tickets and identifying trends.

SharePoint Development

ServiceNow Auditing and Pattern Recognition

The summer before my senior year at Shaw University, I worked as the Information Technology Intern at the North Carolina Electric Cooperatives NCEMC. I worked with the software services department, creating and modifying existing in-house applications. There were two major projects and three programs that I worked on from start to finish. The first project involved working with the updated standards of the data retrieval from the Ecobee API system. The second one involved using the sql bulk copy function to move Information into a database from smart meter technology.

Visual Basic.NET Development

Microsoft SQL Server

The application allowed me to delve deeper into the Python programming language. I created a program that would easily create a password string for better encryption or security. The program uses digits (0-9), lowercase letters, uppercase letters, and special characters. The program randomly selects characters in the set and concatenates them to the password. The user inputs an integer for the number of password/phrases they would like generated and the length they should be for a secure password.

Python Progam Development

Security-Minded

I am working to expand my knowledge in various programming languages and was introduced to the Python Programming language while studying at Wake Technical Community College. Afterwards, I got the book "Crash Course Python" which goes through some of the different applications that Python can work through. The second project in the book has been the most compelling and easy to follow of the three. It was smaller than the other two major projects. This project uses Matplotlib to display either scatter plots, bar graphs, and other visuals for data anaysis. The programs in this section can be used to simulate the movement of a speck of pollen on a drop of water.

I decided to create some simple games either through tutorials from Invent Your Own Computer Games with Python including Hangman, Dragon's Realm, and Tic-Tac-Toe. I created my own number guessing game that allowed me to work on personal development and scalability from a basic game to a more complex version. I plan to create a more expansive game using the tools and techniques used in all of these types of programs including some of the data visualization techniques that randomize outcomes.
